Head Golf Professional

Justin Wasson

Justin was introduced to golf at age two by his father who picked up the game while serving in the Marine Corp. As a junior Justin traveled the state playing the Florida Junior Tour. After Graduating from high school Justin attended Brevard Community College where he played for the Titans. Justin has been a member of Viera’s professional staff since 2004 when he was hired as the Assistant Golf Professional. In 2006 Justin was named the Tournament Director and helped build the tournament program until 2009 when he was named the Head Golf Professional. In 2009 Justin started the Veteran/Active Military Program conducting free clinics with complimentary lunch as well as sending gift boxes overseas to our troops serving abroad. “Outside of my family I receive the most joy when working with our military. Their service and sacrifice allows me to sleep in peace at night and afford me the freedoms to play golf and enjoy my family.” I’m very proud of my staff and the abundant number of sponsors and volunteers who contribute to our Veteran/Active Military Program. It is certainly a group effort and we’re all here for one reason, to say Thank You to our service members.”!

Teaching Philosophy

Encourage each student to develop on an individual level based on goals, physical ability and learning style.  We will work towards proficiency on the golf course based on ball flight laws and proper mental approaches to increase enjoyment and fulfillment of objectives.  I will not teach based on a "perfect swing" model; instead I will teach each student to make their best swing possible.

Background

I have 15 years experience in the golf profession and over that time have had the opportunity to receive training from some of the leaders in all fields of the business including club fitting from Ping, Taylormade, Callaway, and Titleist.  I won Ping Club Fitter of the Year Award in 2006.  I have received teacher method training from Moe Norman of Natural Golf, Mike Bennett and Andy Plummer of Stack and Tilt and Sonny Ackerman of Adaptive Golf.  I have given well over 5,000 lessons in my career as well as coaching a high school golf team.  I received tournament training through the PGA and was also a Tournament Director for the Golf Channel Amateur Tour for 3 years.
